How do I Back up my SERVE data?
Occasionally I get a call from someone who has lost
all their data because their hard disk has crashed, or maybe they had
a virus. Unfortunately problems do happen, even though this is rare.
When it does happen the effects can be devastating. We therefore strongly
recommend that you regularly back up your data
SERVE keeps all the information (foods, person details,
food intakes, recipes, activity details, RDIs etc) in a database.
This provides a number of benefits, namely that all the data is easy
to find, and you only have one file to worry about when backing up your
data. If you have switched databases during tyour use of SERVE
there may be more than one to back up.
So, all you really need to do to back up your data
is save the databases to an external storage device.
If you
have a flash drive or zip drive you can use Windows Explorer to copy the
SERVE databases or the whole serve folder (c:\program files\serve) to
your external disk. Similarly if you have a CD or DVD writer you can
burn a copy of the databases or serve folder to CD or DVD.
If you need help with this call Mike on (02) 9449
